Fes to Merzouga 3 days desert tour itinerary :

Day 1: Fes _ Toudgha Gorges

In the morning at 8:00, your driver/guide will pick you up for your Fes to Merzouga desert tour. You’ll go through Ifrane, which has been dubbed the Switzerland of Morocco because to the unusually sloping roofs on the homes there.

We carry on from Fes through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the cedar grove near Azrou on our journey through the desert. There will be chances to witness the antics of Barbary apes here. We travel through many Berber communities as we make our way further south until we reach Midelt, often known as “the apple capital,” where lunch will be served.

Our Fes desert excursion takes us deeper into the mountains to take in the breathtaking scenery and lovely Berber settlements as we go further south along the main road at Er Rich. We get to Toudgha Gorge, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night, towards the end of the afternoon. (Be cautioned that on sometimes during the winter, this stretch may not be accessible owing to snowfall.)

Day 2: dades Gorges_ Merzouga

There will be options to go for a climb around the gorges or have a stroll along the riverbank after breakfast. Later on, when we go through numerous Berber communities in the desert, you’ll get a close-up view of how the people who live there conduct their daily lives.

We travel from Tinjdad via the Fes desert to Erg Chebbi. You might be perplexed by the earthen mounds that line this road. These are the entrances to the “khettarat,” which is where underground water is collected using a network of wells that are all tightly spaced apart in underground corridors. They employ the terrain’s slopes, which later appear at the soil’s surface, to irrigate the crops. For a better grasp of this smart mechanism, you can really descend into them.

After a warm cup of tea in the afternoon, a one- to one and a half-hour camel ride takes you to the top of the Erg Chebbi dunes (250m), where you can take in the spectacular sunset and the vast, wind-blown dunes. Dinner is served outside under the stars in the evening, and then there is music around the campfire.

Spend the night in an opulent desert camp with a private toilet, king-sized mattresses, lovely Moroccan furnishings, and tastefully placed lamps to maximize your enjoyment of the solitude and beauty of the dunes.

Day 3:Merzouga _ Fes

If you wake up early, you will be rewarded with an incredible show when the sun sets and the shadows of the sand dunes interact. After breakfast, guests will have the chance to take a second camel ride and explore Erg Chebbi’s wind-swept dunes on foot.

Soon after, you depart for Rissani and Erfoud, stopping along the way to see the local fossil exhibits and learn how they are transformed into intriguing items and furniture. From here, we continue on with our journey across the Res Desert to Errachidia and down the Ziz Valley, which is notable for its enormous palm trees and well-known for its date festival in November.

We arrive in Midelt after traversing the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we will once again have lunch. You carry on your delightful journey through the cedar trees and over the Ayachi Mountain. By the end of the afternoon, we return to Fes. Your driver will take you back to your riad after your tour of the Sahara desert in Fes.
